The Guardian Home Program for breeding dogs is a unique and responsible approach that allows individuals or families to participate in the breeding process while providing loving homes for the breeding dogs. This program aims to ensure the well-being and quality of life for both our breeding dogs and their guardian families. The breeding dogs get to experience the comforts and love of a home environment, rather than living solely in a kennel or breeding facility. They have the opportunity to form strong bonds with their guardian families, ensuring their overall well-being and happiness.
Under this program, carefully selected breeding dogs are placed in the homes of guardian families. The dogs live as cherished family pets in their guardian homes and receive all the love, attention, and care they need. When the dogs are at reproductive age and if they pass health tests, they may become active members of our breeding program. The female dogs will whelp up to three litters, males are used only when required and will stay in the program a maximum of 4 years. Guardian families must live within an hour of West Ottawa.
Guardian families play a vital role in the breeding program. They provide a nurturing environment for the breeding dog, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. Guardian families are responsible for the day-to-day care, including feeding, exercise, grooming, and basic training of the dog.
When the breeding dog reaches the appropriate age and is ready to breed, guardians must comply with the agreed-upon breeding schedule and ensure the dog is available for mating. Female dogs are returned to the breeder to whelp and raise their puppies and will stay for approximately six weeks. Alternately, if mutually agreed upon, the female may whelp her puppies at the guardian families home.
This program benefits both the breeding dogs and the guardian families.
We may be looking for guardian homes for several male dogs (Labradoodle and mini Bernedoodle). A $300 deposit is required to be paid for the dog and recognizing the increased costs of caring for a dog, we will pay the guardian family $1000 year (prorated as required) for the time the dog stays in our program. The yearly fee will be paid at the end of the calendar year.
