Guardian Home Opportunities: We anticipate adding 4-5 puppies to our guardian home program late spring (April/May). If you would like more information about becoming a guardian home, please read through this page then contact us if you are interested. Note, most dogs entering the program are females.
Becoming a Guardian Home is an excellent, low cost way to get a quality puppy as a family pet. A Guardian Home is a responsible person/family that takes a potential breeding puppy at a low cost, and provides a forever home, however the dog will be returned to us approximately once a year to provide us with a litter of puppies or in the case of a male dog, stud services as required. We sign a contract with you that specifies how many times the dog will be having litters... usually 2-3 (which translates to about 6-8 weeks here with us per breeding). The dog will usually have her first litter around 18 months of age (sometimes 2 years). Once the dog is retired from their breeding career, they will be neutered or spayed (we pay) and the dog will remain your pet... we sign full ownership over to you.
We sign a contract with you that specifies approximately how many times the dog will be having litters and outlines the responsibilities of both parties. The Guardian Home raises, trains, loves and cares for the puppy as their own (you are responsible for routine dog training and care). We will health test the puppy and if it turns out to be a quality dog, they will enter our breeding program. We require that the guardian home have a yard with a fence. Another dog is fine as long as it is not an intact male. The guardian home must be within an hour of Ottawa.
